We did not have he opportunity to record Monday’s Expansion Project composition but here is the sentiment and wish for the night.
“Happy Birthday Sara Jane!”
Shy hazel windows blinked open
Wonder at it all
Chestnut locks adorn her crown
Active, interested, seeking that which called to her
She went out not knowing
Tacit hopes held her
Comfort during hard times
She longs for answers to questions
Too deep for words
Roundness transformed
Cuteness morphed into elegance
The flesh changed over the years
Soul has grown and grieved and rejoiced
Day by day, year and decade has passed
She has learned and stretched and been amazed
By the wonder of her
Yet for all she has seen and overcome and still hopes to be
At her core she remains . . .
Shy hazel windows which blink open
Sighing from the wonder of it all
That is her destiny, her purpose
To recognize that she has always been perfect
“Innocence is the clarity with which the self shows forth the self. Love is the respect we feel for innocence.”
– John Hawkes: Virginie – Her Two Lives.
Well put!
One of my favourite quotations, and my favourite definition of love until/until I find a better. And I am not sure I ever will.
Nice.
How are things there in the motherland?
What a beautiful way to tie the poem up at the end, repeating the first line. It’s a lovely birthday present for Sara Jane. Was it a request from someone?
Yes mam. Sara Jane :). She is a very talented and interesting lady. She is the gal of one of the main keyboard guys on monday named Ben.
Very classy, dude. 🙂
